With The 6th Australasian Healthcare Summit fast approaching, we look forward to welcoming you to the Summit. The following details may assist with your planning:
Accommodation – Checking into your hotel
Check-in time is from 2.00 pm. Your hotel will do their best to have rooms available for early check-in; however, if you wish to confirm your room for an early arrival, you will need to pre-book and pay for the room from the previous evening.
Airport Transfers
Melbourne Airport is located 20 km or 25 minutes from central Melbourne. A regular airport to city bus service (Skybus) departs the airport every 30 minutes.
The Travellers’ Information Desk at the airport will be able to give you bus departure times, or assistance will be given by the concierge at your hotel.

Location
The 6th Australasian Healthcare Summit is being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Registration Desk is located on Level 1 Foyer 1 of the Melbourne Convention Centre. To access this level you need to locate stair case 1 on the ground floor of the Convention Centre.
Getting to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is located at: 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf, Melbourne
The following transport options are available:
Trains – The nearest train station is Southern Cross Station (15 minutes on foot).
Tram – Trams run along Spencer Street every few minutes. Tram routes that travel past the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre are 96, 109, and 112.
If you are staying in Melbourne for the week and plan to use public transport, we recommend purchasing a weekly ticket. Please visit www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au for more information on tickets for trams, trains and buses.
Taxis – Taxi ranks are located at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, as well as all major hotels, Crown Entertainment Complex, Southern Cross and Flinders Street stations.
Parking – There are two car parks available for visitors to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Parking Option 1: Melbourne Convention Centre – South Wharf Retail Car Park
550 open air parking spaces managed by Wilson Parking, entrance off Normanby Road
Fees: $10 for single entry and exit
Parking Option 2: Melbourne Exhibition Centre
1060 undercover parking spaces managed by Wilson Parking, entrance off Normanby Road

Registration Process
Please visit the registration desk when you first arrive at the Summit to collect your name badge and other related materials.
The registration desk is located on Level 1 Foyer 1. The desk will operate during the following times:

If you have not paid for your registration, you will be directed to the Cashier to make payment. All outstanding accounts must be settled upon registering for The 6th Australasian Healthcare Summit.

Language
The official language of the Conference is English.
Time
Melbourne is 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. In October Melbourne is in Daylight Saving time (EST+1)
Exchange Rate
Australian currency fluctuates on the international monetary exchange. Therefore we recommend checking with your local bank for the exchange rate just prior to your arrival in Australia.
Name Badges
All delegates will receive a name badge upon registration. This badge is the official pass and must be worn to obtain entry to all Conference sessions and associated activities.
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Australia has a Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% on most goods and services such as accommodation, day tours, guides, translators, food, transport (including coach, rail and cruise) and other tourism services within Australia.
Electric Current
Electric current is 240 Volt, AC 50 cycles. Two or Three pin rectangular plugs are used. For more information, please visit your local travel store.
First Aid and Hospital Services
A first-aid room will be available to delegates during the Conference. In the event of an emergency, transfer to the nearest hospital will be provided by ambulance.
Driving License
International Driving Licenses are recognized throughout Australia. Car rental companies ask for a valid driving license.
Private Touring/Hospitality Arrangements
Should you have any specialised group requirements for private touring, transportation or hospitality services, other than those organised for the official Program, please contact the Conference Managers who would be pleased to assist with arrangements.
Currency and Banking
Australian currency is the dollar. Coins have values of 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, and AUD$1 and AUD$2; notes have values of AUD$5, AUD$10, AUD$20, AUD$50 and AUD$100.
Banks and Foreign Exchange
Melbourne’s banking hours are generally Monday to Thursday 0900-1600 and Friday 0900-1700. All the major banks are equipped to exchange foreign currency. You can also exchange foreign currency any day or night at the airport o r during normal business hours in Melbourne’s central business district.
